The Wollombi Valley Sculpture Festival is now a Biennial Event. As with many major Australian and International Exhibitions, the decision has been made to hold our festival every 2 years. The Wollombi Valley Sculpture Biennial will premier in September 2024
Explore a showcase of Australia’s best established and emerging artists and craftspeople including work from Bakehouse Studio’s Lisa Hoelzl and Bakehouse Shed’s Scott Brunsdon.
All items in the exhibition are for sale with proceeds going to the artists and to assisting Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens continue supporting horticulture, conservation, scientific research and educational programs within your Botanic Gardens.
Sculptures in the Garden is regional New South Wales’ largest annual outdoor art exhibition. Work by Lisa Hoelzl and two other Bakehouse Studio artists, Deb Wilkes and Tracey Wigg will this year by included in the exhibition.

A Sculpture Exhibition held in the grounds of Fort Scratchley, Newcastle NSW, showcasing a selected number of International, National and local Artist’s works. The exhibition is open to the public with free entry and the chance to nominate a Sculpture for the main prize of Peoples Choice Award.
This is a popular annual end of year workshop. Come along and make a voluptuous Christmas goddess sculpture which will be fired and glazed in time for the festive season.

Make and glaze some cups for Summer at Connie Dimas’ bright and airy shop at Dulwich Hill.

Learn the basic ceramic hand building skills of slab rolling and moulding to create your own textured platters and plates. Bring a couple of plates or platters you like from home to use as moulds in which to press your slab rolled clay.
Work will be made and completed over a Saturday and Sunday afternoon session.
Suitable for beginners.
Experiment and test the possibilities of ceramic glazing for your own ceramic work. Bring 2 - 3 pieces of earthernware bisqueware, including 10 x 10cm2 square textured ceramic test tiles for experimentation. Bring a notebook and a smartphone to document your experiments.

Learn the basics of ceramic glazing to help you make the right choices for your own ceramic work. In this two hour workshop, an overview of glazing options will be simply explained to help your decision making and overall understanding of the differences between under and over-glazes fired at varying temperatures.

Come and learn how to build intricate nature-inspired sculptures to add to a totem or keep as a stand-alone sculptural treasure. In this workshop, you will hand build your sculpture, after which glazing can be completed in an Open Studio session.

An exhibition unearthing the intriguing world of Art x Science in the Gardens
The world of Fungi and mycelium is full of scientific wonder. Mycelium is the earth’s underground natural internet, mushrooms being the resulting fruiting bodies of this exciting nearly invisible world.
This exhibition will include many genres including, photography, graphite, watercolour and acrylic art works, ceramics, glass, paper art and sculpture all focusing on the intriguing world of FUNGI!!
Come along to this popular workshop and learn how to make ceramic birds. You will take home at least three of these beauties for your home or garden.
