NEWS from Lisa: January Joy

Stoking the Phoenix kiln wood fire at Driving Creek Pottery

I’m a week home from my art residency at Driving Creek Pottery New Zealand, it’s New Year’s Eve and a good time to reflect on the year just passed. And what a year it has been. Highlights had to be exhibiting in Sculptures@Scratchley, Newcastle, Sculpture in the Vineyards, Wollombi and Sculptures in the Garden, Mudgee, participating in two group shows at Gallery Lowe and Lee, one at CBD Gallery and two here at the Bakehouse Studio together with a beautiful group of regulars. Another highlight was the ever-increasing number of workshops, with over 14 held in 2024. I especially enjoyed the vineyard-inspired totem workshop at Winmark Wines, to be repeated over one weekend in February (see below). And then of course my 3 week residency at Driving Creek Pottery was the icing on the calendar cake. This experience has given me so much inspiration for 2025, especially in terms of growing and developing my local community of ceramic makers and artists and offering some new workshops, talks and demonstrations to our Bakehouse menu.

Stay tuned each month to see what’s new on the calendar this year.

To get you creating and making right from the start of 2025, here is our workshop whats-on January to March.
