Note from Lisa - March - a month of sadness and experimentation
A sad month for the Bakehouse with the passing of our beloved studio cat, Flash who’s been an integral part of the Bakehouse for over 10 years! He did love meeting and greeting everyone who stepped through the studio gate and paused to give him a pat. Thank you Lisa Godwin for keeping his memory alive with this little ceramic portrait pot you made of Flash a few years ago.
On a more positive note, March has been a month of much experimentation and learning. Firstly playing with a variety of glazes for fungi-inspired vases, then with glazes for a range of winter cheese boards and vases. I also started a new commission of female figure, candle stick holders - something I haven’t made for a while and greatly enjoy doing.
This month we held two more Clay School workshops at the Bakehouse for beginners and bird lovers, making pinch pot jugs and beautiful birds.
These workshops are part of a planned series of skill development sessions, which have led to a repeat of the Nature-Inspired Sculpture workshop scheduled for April 24th and in May, two glazing 101 workshops on May 1st and 15th. To top it all off, Blaithin will run the Porcelain Illumination workshop on May 29th. Stay posted for more workshops coming up soon. See link here for details
Meanwhile, Open Studio Clay + Coffee (and sometimes cake) mornings are still running on Mondays and Thursdays 10am-1pm, with Pottery + Pinot (and now it’s a bit colder pastizzi too!) happening as always on Thursday nights 6.30pm – 9.30pm. This is an opportunity to come and work independently on your own project at your own pace.
