Note from Lisa - Experimenting with New Ideas

I can’t believe another month has flown by. This month I’ve spent a lot of time writing proposals and experimenting with new ideas for exhibition invitations and opportunities to develop new handmade products and sculptures. I’ve really enjoyed pen and wash sketching and making small clay maquettes as part of this process. One of these projects includes the Fungi x Botanica exhibition to be held at the Royal Botanical Gardens Sydney, opening April 23 for which I’m very excited to have been selected. Hence my many fungi / mycelium inspired pieces lately and our Sunday studio screening of the Fabulous Fungi film, which you can watch on Amazon Prime.

We held three more Clay School workshops at the Bakehouse this month bringing lots of new talent and people to the studio to learn new skills or refine existing ones.

In March and the following months we will continue our Saturday Clay School sessions so please check the website for what’s on next.

Right now, you can book in for the Bird Making workshop or Glazing 101.

Meanwhile, the Bakehouse Studio makeover continues thanks to Scott, with great new additions to our workshop / open studio area bringing a new clay sink, the blackboard and lots of tools, closer to the action.

Lastly, what would we do without our favourite almost octogenarian kiln technician, Harry, who spent 3 hours last week installing brand new elements in our large two-phase kiln to get us back up and running at full temp. Thanks Harry, we do love your dry wit as well as your sparkie skills
