NEWS from Lisa: A month of inspiration

April was a month full of inspiration, firstly with the Clay Dynasty exhibition and whole day symposium at the Powerhouse Museum, then I enjoyed five days at Clay Gulgong with experts from the US, New Zealand and all over Australia demonstrating their skills and sharing their creative journeys in a series of amazing talks.

Yesterday at the Bakehouse Studio, we held the first of our Sunday afternoon Artist Talks with Chinese tea bowl aficionado and expert potter Leonard Smith. (pictured below) which proved to be a fascinating start to the series.

Stay tuned to find out the next speaker scheduled for Sunday May 29th.

in late April, Helen Kudicevic and Cally Winter-Bruer (pictured below) joined me for an Australian Design Centre curated Night Market at the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre in conjunction with their touring exhibition called Obsessed. The market, exhibitions, talks, music, food and workshops made it a great night with something for everyone. Look out for more great exhibitions and events at this unique space.

This month, I’m very much looking forward to having two weeks off from Uni lecturing to develop my next body of work. Thanks to the Inner West Individual Artist’s Grant I received last year, I will be making work about the Cooks River to be exhibited initially at the Bakehouse for the Midjuburi Creative Trail between the 12-14th of August. So please save the date, as this event also heralds the official launch of Scott’s Bakehouse Shed which will be very exciting and as many of you know, has been building rapidly. Stay tuned for the sights and sounds of wood-working tools and machinery

And a reminder that there are still places available for upcoming workshops listed below. You can book your place here. Gift vouchers are also available to purchase online here and make a great Mothers Day Gift.
