Note from Lisa - Busy month at the Bakehouse
What a busy month January was in the studio!
The temperature in that big, old building managed to stay more than tolerable even during that run of very hot days.
I had a full schedule of workshops in January with some new and existing studio patrons coming to make vases, totems and birds. The birds are about to fly off to their new homes. The bird workshops are popular, so there will be more of them. Get in touch if you are interested – you will come out of the workshop with three beautiful birds.
Keep checking the website workshops listing for more info on the new set of workshops scheduled for February and beyond which will include Saturday morning sessions for basic hand building and glazing skills, and separate sessions for more intricate and advanced skill development and experimentation.
Right now, you can book in for a Nature Inspired Sculpture workshop to build hero totem beads or stand alone pieces. See link here for details
The Bakehouse makeover continues in preparation for the May 1 relaunch and that teacher from Bass Hill High collected some more art stuff last week for his students. Next job is moving the clay sink to make it more accessible and easier to use – and keep clean. Scott is looking forward to getting the tools out, which is great.
Thanks to Helen Kundicevic and Jo Boag for joining me at the Australian Design Centre Sydney Festival edition of their design market this month. Despite the heat and limited numbers, we were very pleased with our sales, commissions and new contacts.
Thanks also to Deb for keeping me on task with this newsletter and the website and lots of other behind the scenes marketing ideas.
Right now I am on a short break down the south coast to recharge after a busy start to the year – but I do of course have a bag of clay with me.
